Rev. Dr. Michele Shields
Director, Spiritual Care Services and ACPE Supervisor.
Rev. Dr. Michele R. Shields is affiliated with the United Methodist
Church and has been an ordained minister since 1981.Michele holds
a B.A. degree from McGill University in Montreal, a M.Div. degree
from Boston University, and a D.Min. degree from Drew
University in Madison, New Jersey. She is a certified supervisor
with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education and a board
certified chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains.
Michele is also on the faculty of UCSF School of Medicine, teaching
spirituality, cultural humility, and ethics."
She is also endorsed by the United Methodist Church to serve as a
chaplain in general hospital and VA hospital settings. Michele
served as a local church minister for ten years and later served five
hospitals as a chaplain prior to UCSF.
Rev. Birte Beuck
Manager of CPE  and ACPE Supervisor.
Rev. Birte Beuck was certified by ACPE as a CPE Supervisory in
2006. She was ordained by Metropolitan Community Church in 1999.
She has theological training at Pacific School of Religion, Berkeley, CA
and Humbolt Universitaet, Berlin, Germany. She conducted CPE at
Veterans Affairs Menlo Park in the summer of 2000 and 2001. She has
been conducting CPE at UCSF Mt. Zion Medical Center since 2002.
Rev. Susan Conrad
ACPE Supervisory Candidate.
She was ordained as a Unitarian Universalist minister in 2005,
and completed her theological training at Harvard Divinity
School.  Before coming to UCSF, she completed five units of
clinical pastoral education – one unit at Brigham & Women’s
Hospital in Boston, and a year-long residency at Alta Bates
Summit Medical Center in Berkeley/Oakland.
Allison Kestenbaum, MA, MPA,
is a chaplain and Supervisor in Supervisory Education, endorsed
by the Jewish community. She works on the Palliative Care
Service and on 14L Internal Medicine Unit.  Allison completed her
training at the HealthCare Chaplaincy/ St. Luke's Roosevelt
Hospital in New York and at UCSF Medical Center with clinical
placements in palliative care, neurology, internal medicine,
pediatric research and surgery.    Allison holds masters degrees in
Judaic Studies and Non-profit Management/Public Policy from
New York University.
